Welcome to Broward County Public Schools' Crisis Response and Recovery information site. Crisis response teams are comprised of school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and family counselors. The primary purpose of the teams is to offer assistance to schools, students, staff members, and families when a crisis occurs, such as the death of a student or a staff member.
The intent of the Crisis Response & Recovery Handbook is to provide schools with guidance regarding best practices in the areas of crisis preparedness, response, and recovery. It focuses on addressing the emotional (mental health) effects that may accompany a traumatic event. Each crisis is different and should be treated with care and consideration with regard to its unique circumstances. Therefore, the information in the handbook is not all-inclusive. Schools should consider the general guidelines contained in the handbook in conjunction with their individual safety and security plans.
